IP Addresses #1

Every computer on the Internet or on a network attached to the Internet has a unique address known as an IP address. This is similar to street addresses, where each house or building in a town has a unique address.

For every building in a town there are two parts to its address. There is the street name on which it is located and there is its unique number on that street.

The street name tells you which part of the town that building is in. The street number distinguishes that building from other buildings on the same street.
