  1. I. Teacher Engagement for Computer Science (TECS) Date: September 26, 2006
        Facilitator: Dr. Wayne Summers, Dr. Rodrigo Obando
    Description: Modeled after the Java Engagement for Teacher Training (JETT) workshops, this introductory course provides a high level overview of the TECS and Microsoft Training Modules with special attention to educating others in computer science education.

  2. II. Understanding and Building Basic Networks Date: November 14, 2006
        Facilitator: Dr. Wayne Summers, Dr. Rodrigo Obando
    Description: This workshop focuses on the essential principles of computer organization to include uses of simple network environments for information sharing. Participants examine Internet concepts including Web design and development and ethical issues.



  3. III. Having Fun with Computers Date: January 25, 2007
        Facilitator: Dr. Wayne Summers, Dr. Rodrigo Obando
    Description: Participants are introduced to models of intelligent behaviors including an introduction to artificial intelligence, game playing, and robotics. Uses of multimedia in a variety of computer applications are explored to include incorporating audio, video, and graphic elements.

  4. IV. Programming Basic Applications Date: March 20, 2007
        Facilitator: Dr. Wayne Summers, Dr. Rodrigo Obando
    Description: Participants are introduced to programming concepts and languages. This course provides an introduction to the hierarchy and abstraction in computer programming and acquaints participants with objects and object-oriented programming.
    The fourth session will focus on computer programming with Alice. "Alice is a modern programming environment designed to be a student's first exposure to object-oriented programming. It allows students to learn basic computer science while creating animated movies, simple video games, where students control the behavior of 3D objects and characters in a virtual world." Participants will work in teams to design and implement a project of their choosing.
