CS456/556 - Internet Services - Lab 10

(Due before class on Nov. 23, 1999)

The following assignment is intended to introduce the maintenance of IIS.

  1. What is the IP address for the virtual Web server you installed?
  2. Change the number of connections for your Web server to 100. Why would you want to do this?
  3. Prevent cs.nmhu.edu from accessing your Web server. Why would you want to do this?
  4. Change the connection timeout for your Web service to 5 minutes. Why would you want to do this?
  5. Disable bandwidth throttling. Explain what this is. Why would you do this?
  6. What is the current home directory? How would you change it? Why would you want to change it?
  7. Disallow users from navigating through the IIS directory structure. Why would you want to do this?
  8. Disallow the IP address 192.132.89.173 from accessing your web site. Why would you want to do this?
  9. Create a virtual WWW directory for wsummers. Why would you want to do this?
  10. Create a virtual ftp directory for wsummers. Why would you want to do this?
  11. Write a brief description of what you did for each of the above. Problems, etc.
