Class D
Class D addresses are reserved for multicasting. Multicasting is the sending of a stream of data to multiple computers simultaneously.
Many routers forward multicasts, and computers configured to receive the multicast information accept the packets and can receive the data stream.
Since Class D addresses must have 1110 as their first four binary digits, the range for Class D starts with decimal 224 and ends at 239 in the first octet.
