Token Ring Continued
A MAU is a hub for a Token Ring network.
The token is passed from host to host but through the MAU.
Although the physical layout of a Token Ring network is a star just as in the 10BaseT network, the signal is actually travelling in a ring, from one host to the next, thus the term star-ring.
Recall that in the 10BaseT star-bus network, the signal is sent through the hub to all hosts.
MAUs can be connected to other MAUs on the network.
Up to 33 MAUs can be connected on a Token Ring network.
