Wire Map
A wire map checks the wiring sequence of UTP cable.
The test shows whether the installer properly or improperly connected the wires to the jack or plug.
Crossed wires, reversed pairs, and crossed pairs are all indications of incorrect wire placement at the jack, connector, or patch panel.
Shorts are caused when two wires make contact with each other at some point, which usually means that the cable was bent or creased more than 90 degrees. Short can also occur if cable is pierced.
Any wire that is open is actually broken at some point inside the wire, or is not properly connected.
