In this project we will design and discuss a plan to network the Arrott House, which is a married housing unit here at New Mexico Highlands University. Our Plan will cover all the wiring layouts, hub and patch panel locations, along with drop locations in each unit. Due to the fact that this is a three story building with 32 units, with each unit requiring 2 drops, this layout and wiring design will be fairly complex. In addition to the design and layout of our network and data wiring configuration, we also plan to run phone cable along side our data cable in order to connect the Arrott House to the New Mexico Highlands University phone system. The benefits to having the Arrott House networked and wired are many. By providing two drops in each unit, the tenants/students will be better suited to compete in the classroom by having access to a computer network.
Along with the basic wiring diagrams and layout of our network we will also provide an inventory which will include a materials and parts list, and a basic cost analysis of the project.
