SYSTEMS DESIGN AND ANALYSIS PROJECT REQUIREMENTS SYSTEMS PLANNING CHECKLIST
- 1.Develop a business plan (define key business goals and objectives).
- 2.Organize a steering committee, systems planning team and JAD session.
- 3.Build an enterprisewide model using an ERD that reflects how the organization's entities and their relationships should be formulated to support the business plan.
- 4.Prepare a generalized information systems model using the enterprisewide model as a guide.
- 5.Prepare a Resource Requirements Matrix and an overall component, especially a budget for the Systems Plan Report.
- 6.Schedule a JAD session to generate a Systems Project Proposal Form.
- 7.Create a GANTT chart and PERT diagram to indicate the estimated schedule.
- 8.Use TELOS and PDM factors to grade the project proposal.
- 9.Prepare a Project Schedule Report for the systems project.
SYSTEMS ANALYSIS CHECKLIST
- 1.Use JAD and prototyping sessions to gain user involvement in the system under development and to elicit user requirements.
- 2. Use modeling tools such as DFDs, ERDs, STDs, decision tables & trees and other tools to model user requirements and define systems scope.
- 3. Use CASE technology to help facilitate the modeling of user requirements. Keep a central repositiory of all documented deliverables, models, prototypes and other systems documentation.
- 4. Use the current systems, internal sources and external sources to gather study facts.
- 5. Use interviewing, sampling, and observing as study-fact gathering techniques.
- 6.Prepare a Systems Analysis Report in good, professional form using desktop publishing.
- 7. Present the Systems Analysis Report orally and extemporaneously.
-
GENERAL SYSTEMS DESIGN CHECKLIST
- 1. Employ RAD using JAD, SWAT, CASE and prototyping.
- 2.If you use structured-oriented design approach - use process-oriented approach for well-defined applications and data-oriented approach for DSS.
- 3.If you use object-oriented design, employ methodologies, modeling tools and techniques that are used in the structured-approach for the front-end work.
- 4.Prepare a General Systems Design Report comparing each general systems design alternative.
SYSTEMS EVALUATION AND SELECTION CHECKLIST
- 1.Evaluate each general systems design alternative with TELOS and PDM factors and compute a score for each.
- 2.Evaluate each general systems design alternative with its MURRE design factors and compute a score for each.
- 3.Perform a cost/benefit analysis for each alternative.
- 4.After making these evaluations, recommend the "best" general systems design alternative.
- 5. Prepare an uupdated schedule using GANTT charts and PERT diagrams.
