CS101 - Living with Computers
Guidelines for Electronic Journals
For each chpater you will be expected to write an entry in your electronic journal. This entry will be e-mailed to the faculty at ejournals@cs.nmhu.edu. One or more of us will read your entry and get back to you electronically.
You will be expected to keep up with the readings in the textbooks as well as read articles about computing in the newspapers, computer periodicals like PC-Week and PC-Magazine, or on the Internet. There are a number of computer periodicals in the library and a large collection
of recent periodicals in the back of LH2. You may also discuss any explorations you have taken on the Internet.
Each week you will need to write about what you have read. Include your personal impressions of what you have read. Discuss what you found most difficult in the chapter's readings. Also include any comments and recommendations that you would like to share with us about the course. Feel free to ask us questions and / or complain about the class and lab.
If you come across any computer terminology that you don't understand, please list the terms and we will either explain them in our E-mail response or discuss the terms in class.
Each weekly submission is worth seven points. We will be expecting a discussion of your readings and a discussion of the class. We will not be grading your spelling and grammar, but please try to avoid errors. You do not need to write a "term paper" each week, but only writing one or two sentences will not get you full points. This is an opportunity for you to get some easy points and extend your knowledge of computers.
