APPENDIX D:    Using Netscape Communicator as a Mail Client

 

Netscape Communicator can be used to read your e-mail from a mail server.

 

1)    Run Netscape Communicator as if you were browsing. Make sure that you have a disk in drive A:

 

2)   
Select Mail and Groups Option from Edit|Preferences.

 


3) Under Servers, change the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server and Incoming Mail Server to the name of your server's name and put your username in for Mail server User Name. Select whether you want to leave the messages on the server.



4) Under Identity, change Your Name, Your E-Mail and your Reply—to-Address. You may include a signature file if you have one created.


 

 


5)   

After you select OK, open the Netscape Messenger Mailbox Window from the Communicator menu. You will be asked for the password to your account.  Enter your password.

 


6)    Your mail will be retrieved. You can also reply to any e-mail you have received as well as send new e-mail.
