IP Connectivity Continued
Telnet is a utility that connects at the application layer of the OSI model and provides remote access to other devices.
Cisco routers allow telnet connections via their virtual terminal ports. You can configure routers remotely using Telnet.
Begin a telnet session by typing telnet [ip address] or just type the ip address without the word telnet in front of it.
If you have a name server or have configured a host name table on your router, you can just type the name of the router instead of the ip address.
If virtual terminal passwords have been configured on the remote router, you will be prompted for a password.
To end a telnet session type logout or exit.
