Horizontal Cabling Standards Continued
The important terms to define include:
- Workstation area cable: Connects the workstation to the wall outlet
- Telecommunications connector: Found at the wall outlet
- Horizontal cable: Runs between the wiring closet and the wall outlet
- Horizontal cross connect patch cord: Connects devices in the wiring closet
EIA/TIA 568 recognizes 50-ohm coaxial cabling. However, this cable type is expected to be removed from the standard at some point.
