Chapter Summary Continued
On an internetwork, administrators use routers to send packets between remote segments.
When a client communicates with a remote host on an IP network, it sends the packet to the router (default gateway) that is responsible for forwarding it to the appropriate network.
The packet from the source includes the MAC address of the router and the IP address of the remote destination host.
When the router receives the packet, it unwraps it to determine where to forward it.
The routing table determines to which interface the router must forward the packet.
