Subnet Masking Continued
Class C addresses can also be subdivided, but not as many options or available masks exist because only the last octet can be manipulated with a Class C address.
The network administrator can use up to six bits of the last octet to subnet the Class C address.
The next slide illustrates the possible binary combinations that can be used as subnet masks.
The subnet masks have a clear binary pattern. They must have a continuous string of ones from the left side of the octet.
Memorize the 8 decimal numbers and how many masking bits these numbers correspond to.
