RIP Continued
With RIP, a device that is 16 hops away is considered unreachable.
Updates to the routing table are sent every 30 seconds to other routers, which is why RIP has a large overhead.
RIP can make use of multiple network paths to the same destination. This is called load balancing.
By default, RIP is able to support four parallel paths. The number of parallel paths can be modified with the maximum-paths command.
If the maximum number of parallel paths is set to one, load balancing is disabled.
