Checking the Interface Continued

• Other replies to the show int s0 command include:

  • Serial 0 is administratively down, line protocol is down

• This indicates that the interface is disabled on the router. You should issue the no shutdown command on the interface to fix this problem.

• Yet another reply to the command could be:

  • Serial 0 down, line protocol is down

• This indicates that there is a physical problem with the serial interface on the router.

• You will not see the combination; Serial 0 is down, line protocol is up.
