Checking the Interface

• Two of the most frequently used commands are the show interface command and the show ip interface command.

• Both commands display much information including whether a local interface is fully functional or not.

• The first line of the output from these commands reports the status of the interface.

• The status includes the physical layer status and the data link layer status.
