Methodology

• There are certain steps to follow when troubleshooting a network. Some of these steps include:

  • Collect as much info as possible
  • Note environmental conditions including heat, humidity, EMI/RFI
  • Find out what the user did, make sure this is not user error
  • Use the baseline measurements
  • Use the network map
  • List, prioritize, and examine possible causes
  • Go from basic to more complex
  • Use management tools
  • Use replacement
