Causes of NEXT are:
- Split pairs
- Too much wire untwisted at the patch panel, jack, or connectors
- Bends, kinks, or stretches in the cabling
Never apply more than 25 pounds of pressure when stringing or fishing cable. Some vendors sell 10 pound rated pulling string that will break before too much tension is placed on the wire.
Be sure not to step on, cut, crush, or twist the wire during installation.
Finally, ensure that jacks and patch panels are wired correctly, so that split pairs are avoided.
Visually check the horizontal cable if NEXT is detected; look for untwisted wires, stretched areas, or kinks in the cable.
