Wire Map Continued
Normally one pair is used to send and the other to receive, but in the split pair configuration, the wire pair is twisted incorrectly, which increases the likelihood of crosstalk during signal transmission.
This type of problem is usually the result of poor wiring at the jack and the patch panel. The sequence must be incorrectly wired in both places in order for the pair to be split.
Although wire maps cannot detect this problem, a NEXT (near end crosstalk) test or visual inspection can detect a split pair.
