Patch Panel Continued
The pins are color coded to facilitate wiring. The process for punching these wires into the panel is similar to that of wiring an RJ-45 telecommunications connector.
On the opposite side of the patch panel, patch cables are use to connect the patch panel ports and attached to devices inside the wiring closet, such as hubs, routers, and switches.
The patch panel ports accept RJ-45 connectors, so no punching down of cable is necessary for this side.
The patch cable itself must be fitted with RJ-45 connectors on both ends.
