There are four basic logical topologies; Ethernet, Token-Ring, ARCnet, and FDDI.
Ethernet uses the CSMA/CD access method.
Token-Ring and FDDI architectures use slightly different variations of the token-passing access method.
ARCnet also uses token-passing.
Other access methods include demand priority, which is used by 100VG-ANYLan architectures.
