• The first step in designing and implementing the LAN can be broken down into two main phases: investigation and analysis, and a feasibility study.

• The investigation and analysis phase includes the gathering of information. You should obtain the following information:

  • Organization’s history and current status
  • Budget
  • Projected growth
  • Operating policies
  • Management and office procedures
  • Office systems
  • Current and future needs of users
  • Existing network structure, if any
