Horizontal Cabling Continued
Although the standard specifies twisted-pair or fiber cabling for horizontal cabling, the standard still recognizes 50-ohm coaxial cabling.
Coaxial cable is not recommended and is expected to be removed from the standard at some point.
The following cable types may be used for horizontal pathways:
- Shielded twisted pair (STP): two-pair of 150 ohm cabling
- Unshielded twisted pair (UTP): four-pair of 100 ohm cabling
- Fiber optic cabling: a two-fiber 62.5/125 µ optical fiber cable
