FDDI Token-Passing
The FDDI access method is based on the token-passing access method, but does not have the same limitations.
While regular Token Ring networks are limited to one token on the ring at a time, FDDI networks can circulate more than one token.
Thus data can be transmitted more quickly on the network.
FDDI also supports priority levels to particular hosts or data types.
In 802.5 Token Ring networks, each host has equal access.
