100VG—AnyLAN (802.12)
IEEE 802.12 defines the 100VG-AnyLAN as having data transmission rates of 100 Mbps on twisted-pair cabling.
This network implementation supports all the network design standards for both 10BaseT Ethernet and Token Ring, so it can be implemented without physical rewiring.
100VG-AnyLAN has message frame compatibility for Token Ring and Ethernet, which allows it to connect to either Token Ring or Ethernet networks via a bridge. 100VG-AnyLAN can also be routed to FDDI rings.
The access method for 100VG-AnyLAN is different than the access methods of Token Ring and Ethernet. 100VG-AnyLAN uses a centrally controlled access method called Demand Priority.
