Logical Link Control (IEEE 802.2)
In the IEEE 802.2 specification, the Data Link layer is divided into the MAC sublayer and the LLC sublayer.
The LLC sublayer is closer to the software components of the protocol stack.
The LLC controls data link communication and defines Service Access Points, which are used to transfer information from the Logical Link Control layer to higher layers of the protocol stack.
You can remember this sublayer by considering that it provides the “link” between the lower layers and the upper layers.
