Static Routing
The advantages of static routing include:
- Greater administrative control because each route is defined by the administrator
- No increase in network traffic due to router table transfers
- Preferred to connect stub networks, when there is only one path to the network from the router
There are disadvantages to static router configuration:
- Increased administrative overhead to create and maintain tables
- Tables paths are not automatically modified based on increased traffic or network path problems
- Chance of typos in routing tables
