The OSI Model Continued
The OSI reference model is sometimes called the OSI protocol stack.
Devices must use common protocols to communicate.
The many different protocols in use today on networks can be discussed in terms of where they fit in the OSI reference model.
Most vendors agreed to support OSI.
This made it easier to implement a variety of networks.
Although the model just serves as a reference, it provides several advantages also known as the reasons for layering.
