DIGITAL CROSS-CONNECTS
 

The Digital Cross-connects Switches automatically link  same-level signals to one another. There are two types: one the wideband DCS,  has  a limited range (DS1s/VT1.5a) and terminates incoming DSI, DS3 and OC-n signals and generates new frames for outgoing signals. The broadband DCS functions in the same manner affecting  the DS3/STS-1 and STS3c signals instead.
