- This section of the presentation provides an overview of the Frame Relay market, history and future directions, and a comparison of private lines.
- Understanding the components of Frame Relay. I will describe the basic definitions of a Frame Relay network, and the function of each component. And how a Frame relay network operates.
- Frame Relay has enjoyed much success in the networking world. Its ability to work with both legacy and emerging technologies while providing cost savings and/or lower cost of ownership, has made it the industrys fastest growing data service. On the other hand, legacy technologies, such as X.25 and private lines, continue to experience slow market growth. And emerging technologies such as ATM and IP face challenges in penetrating the enterprise business markets as controversies over their merits and implementations are sorted out. Frame relays future success is often a topic of debate as ATM and IP continue to carve out their networking niche.
This presentation will cover the various competing technologies, their strengths and weaknesses, and frame relays continued success through co-existence with ATM and IP.
