1. Make sure that your computer and everything attached
to it is plugged in.
2. Make sure that your computer is properly connected to
the network.
3. Note any error messages that appear on the screen.
4. Do a little experimenting to find out whether the
problem is indeed a network problem or a problem with just your computer.
5. Try restarting your computer.
6. Try restarting the entire network.
1. Is it plugged in?
2. Check surge protector.
3. Check On/Off switch.
4. Listen for fan.
5. Check outlet.
6. Check monitor.
7. Check cables.
8. Check monitor adjustments.
1. Twisted-pair - check light on NIC (should be steady)
2. Coax - check to make sure network is properly
terminated and "Teed"
3. Replace cable
4. Check hub
Try Pause key(Hold key);
Ctrl-NumLock; Ctrl-S; or F8 during boot
1. Try another protocol (NETBUEI / TCP/IP)
2. Try another computer on the network
3. Try another computer with your ID
4. Try logging out of the network and trying the
operation
1. in Windows, Linux GUI: use ShutDown
2. in Linux: exit
3. CTRL-ALT-DEL
4. Reset button
5. On/Off switch
6. Unplug
1. Have users log off network and shut down computers
(Make sure they save their work first.)
2. Shut down the network server
3. Reboot the network server. [Watch for error messages]
4. Turn on each computer
